The Legend of Zelda

The Legend of Zelda series:

The best Nintendo game series is called The Legend of Zelda. Zelda is a fantasy role playing game that was created by Shigeru Miyamoto. Shigeru Miyamoto got his inspiration from his childhood. He used to explore the forests, caves and rural villages in the hillside of his home in Japan. He then made the Zelda series and created some of the places from his home in his game. The Legend of Zelda was first released on February 21, 1986 in Japan. Then, a year later, it was released in America and Europe.
The series is about Link, a young courageous boy, who has to save the princess Zelda from Gannon.  In order to defeat Gannon, Link has to find the triforce. The triforce is a golden triangle that has the power to destroy Gannon. But he has to find the three pieces: courage, power, and wisdom. Most of the gameplay consists of puzzles and fighting. The setting is back in the medieval times in Hyrule. The newer games are not much different than the older ones. There are different puzzles, characters, and places in all of the new games of the series. The franchise has sold more than 52 million copies and became the fourth best selling NES game ever.
My favorite game of the series is The Legend of Zelda: Windwaker because it’s fun and has a lot of features that the other Zelda games did not have. For example, there are a lot of mini games and there are different weapons. Unfortunately, they removed the boat feature from the newer game, The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess. Twilight Princess has a great storyline and graphics but I would have liked it better if it had more features to it instead of just the main story.  Windwaker was released in the early 2000s for the GameCube.

I rate the Zelda series a 4 out of 5 because its fun but they seem to repeat the patterns in the puzzles and I would like to see a completely different game out of the series.

Mario

                                 Rate:
Mario is my favorite classic game! Mario was released in 1983 and was the first of two-hundred Mario games.  Mario is a fictional character from the Mushroom Kingdom in America. Shigeru Miyamoto, the creator of Mario, wanted to create the best selling video game for Nintendo. He originally wanted to make a game that hade Popeye, Olive Oyl, and Bluto but he was unable to get the license to be able to use the characters.  Mario started out in one of the earlier Donkey Kong games. Mario was originally known as Jumpman.  In the 1981 Donkey Kong game, Donkey Kong was Mario’s pet and Mario was mean to him so Donkey Kong ran away and stole Mario’s girlfriend. Then you have to play Jumpman and rescue her.  Then, when Mario’s own series was created, he then had to save princess Peach from the evil turtle Bowser.

Not only do the creators have a lot of Mario games, they also have games that feature some of the other characters from Mario. I really liked the game Luigi's Mansion for the Nintendo GameCube. In this game Luigi inherits a mansion and when he goes inside the mansion, he quickly finds out that it is haunted. Then Mario gets kidnapped by the King Boo character and Luigi has to go through the entire mansion trying to save his brother.  Another Mario game I love is called Super Mario Smash Bros. In this game, he or she can pick their favorite character and fight the other popular characters from a lot of different classic video games. He or she can either play the story mode or fight their friends in multiplayer. My favorite character is Zelda because I always disappear and reappear on the other side of the map and it is easy to get away from the person I am fighting. I love the Mario games and they are definitely my favorite games!
I rated this series 5 out of 5 because there are a lot of different types of games and it’s awesome.

Call of Duty: Black Ops

Rate:

One of my favorite games is Call of Duty: Black Ops. Call of Duty is a very popular first-person shooter. According to Matt from  Call of Duty is awesome and he said a lot of positive things about the game. I agree with almost everything he said in his blog. For example, he said “Each mission plays out so well and contains so much excitement that I can firmly say this is my favorite Call of Duty campaign to date”, and I agree completely. In the first 24 hours that this game went on sale, they broke the record set by Modern Warfare 2 by selling 7 million copies. They ended up getting up to 1 billion in sales within a week.

There are many options on the beginning screen. People can either play the campaign, zombies, or multiplayer. My favorite part of the game is zombies because it’s awesome and fun to play with friends. In zombies, the point is to get to the highest level without dying. The farthest I’ve ever made it was to level 19 but that was because I was on two player and my brother’s good at it. I didn’t like the multiplayer as much in Black Ops because the guns are harder to aim with. But I did like all of the newer levels because they are more complex and detailed.
The campaign in this game is a lot better from the campaign in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 because it is a lot longer and it has a more interesting storyline. The storyline is mainly about the Cold War. The story starts out with a Russian spy named Alex who is being interrogated because they want to know where the number station is. Then the rest of the single-player storyline is flash backs from 1961 through 1968 and it shows all of the things he went through during the war.
I rated this game a 4 out of 5 because of how entertaining it is but it just gets a little boring after a while.

Dead Island

Dead Island Rate:

The best zombie game ever is called Dead Island. Dead Island is about a mysterious zombie outbreak on a fictional island called Banoi. At the beginning of the game people can pick the character they want to play. There are five different characters to choose from. I recommend picking one of the characters that specialize in swords because there are a lot of swords on the island and hardly any guns. When the game starts, the character wakes up in the hotel room and he or she is the only one who cannot get the infection so they have to help all the other survivors until help arrives.

The cool part about this game is that people can use almost anything as they want as a weapon.  My favorite weapon is the butcher knife because it’s really strong and can almost kill anything in one hit. The best feature in this game is that the higher the level people get, the better items they can find. Also all of the zombie’s level up as the character does so that the      (multiplayer mode)           zombies are not too easy or too hard to kill.
One thing I noticed about this game is that it’s like a lot of the undead games that I have played before. But mainly it reminds me of Left 4 Dead 2 . In Left 4 Dead 2 there is  basically the same idea as Dead Island. In both of them the character has to kill a bunch of zombies, there are the same types of weapons, and almost the same selection of characters.
The graphics in this game probably couldn’t get much better. They did a awesome job making the island look realistic. The undead in this game are very gory and bloody but all the violence makes the game even better. But over all this game is amazing and I recommend it to everyone!

Final Fantasy

Hello! My name is Mandy Weber and this year I will be writing about video games again! I know most people in here already know this, but, I love video games, traveling, reading, and swiming. I am originally from Logan, Ohio but I plan to move to North Carolina when I graduate. I am writing about the same thing again because I know many different games and I figured I would not have to do a ton of research for my blog.
In my opinion, the Final Fantasy series  are the most boring games I know.  I usually write about games I love, but today I want to talk about a game I do not like. I have only played the tenth final fantasy game but I’ve spent plenty of boring hours watching my brother play most of the games of the series.
The whole series is not the same storyline; instead they have some of the same characters, weapons, game mechanics, and plot line in each game. So each game is pretty much the same except for the graphics, which usually improve more and more each game. The storyline usually takes place in the future and there is a war going on and some form of darkness trying to take over. To fight the darkness, you have to fix your weapons, walk around a huge city forever, upgrade your skills, and complete a huge list of things you must do. Then when you are finally battling, you click on which kind of attack you want to use. Even though the fighting is not the most exciting thing ever, the monsters that you have to fight are detailed and creative looking. I would like Final Fantasy a lot more if the fighting in the game was better and if the actual game wasn't three c.ds long. The storyline and the graphics are mostly good in all of the games.  Over all, the Final Fantasy series is right for someone who really enjoys strategy games but it is not for me.
I rated the game 2 out of 5 because of the good graphics.
